In February, Bella was privileged to participate in the recording of a C.D. with The American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra. The C.D. is called, The Master, and will be for sale at Deseret Book and other retailers Mid-April.
The music is all original arrangements of LDS hymns and I can attest that it is going to be amazing! I was at Zermatt with the group as a chaperone for three days and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was fun getting to know some of Bella’s friends in the orchestra and having the opportunity to see Bella interact with a group of kids. She is such a light!
The leaders and parents who run this program are amazing in their own right! The dedicate countless hours to this program and have created something very special.
One of the things that impressed me most was that they opened and closed every recording session with prayer. The kids could feel the influence of the Spirit during the entire retreat and I overheard many commenting on it. What a rare treat for an group like this!
Make sure to tune in to the advertisements between the LDS Conference sessions. An ad for the album will be shown that has clips of the kids recording. They brought in a very neat droid for part of the filming and we are excited to see the result.
Bella came home thoroughly exhausted but completely energized by the experience. Her love for music has grown exponentially.
Bella would often read while other sections of the orchestra were recording. Pete Hansen caught this photo of her reading one of the Chinese text books.
On a very heart breaking note, the first night that we were in Zermatt, we received the terrible news that our little friend, Gideon, had passed away. We knew him for such a short time, but it was long enough for us to fall in love with his happy little smile and personality. After a night of many tears, Bella let me know that she was going to dedicate the song they recorded that day to him. She was so pleased when she arrived at the studio to find that they were recording, If You Could Hie to Kolob. This has been the song she has chosen to play in church several times and is one of her favorites. It was very comforting for both of us to hear the song played over and over through out the day and to think about the lyrics as they played.
“There is no end to glory; There is no end to love;
There is no end to being; There is no death above. “
Gideon is the little boy to Bella’s left.
