Today I attended a Neonatal Resuscitation training as an observer. I was only able to go for 1/2 of the day because I have sick family at home, but I am so grateful that I was able to attend the portion that I did! Even though I was just an observer, I feel like I learned so much!
Nearly all of the participants in the room were women. All of them were doctors, doctors assistants or midwives. There was one male Dr. there. I so admire the women in Mongolia! They are a tough breed. Education levels here are high, most people speak several languages, and women are educated as often as men.
According to W.H.O. 500,000,000 babies die each year within the first 24 hours of birth. 9,000,000 of those die from breathing asphyxia. I learned today that 99% of those babies could be saved if only the practitioners knew how to use these resuscitation practices.
I love my church and I love the philanthropy work that they do around the world! I look forward to the day that Da and I can join this amazing group of missionaries to serve those most in need!
