When we originally came to China our plan was to stay in Xi’an for the entire three month period with short weekend excursions to the sites we wanted to visit. When it turned out that Xi’an was not working out, we adjusted and budgeted and found that we could afford to stay in inexpensive hotels and get more of the experience we were looking for in other locations. We had come to do some volunteer work (done!), study some Chinese (yi dianr dianr), take some art classes (yep!) and maybe some music lessons….(nope;o(. We also wanted the girls to see the Terracotta Warriors (of course!) and maybe Guilin (and so much more!) Tomorrow we’re headed to see the Giant Pandas and on Saturday we will jump to Beijing. Where does that leave us? Well, a couple of amazing opportunities have presented themselves back home, and so once again, we are modifying our plans!
As I type this evening, our plane tickets have been changed and we are heading back state side on April 9th. (We spent less money changing airline tickets then we would have on the remaining days in hotels!) We are very please with how things turned out for us here in China and are very much looking forward to sleeping in our own beds for a change!
Don’t forget, we still have 8 more days of adventures to post about, so stay tuned!
