Bus 40 & Oil Paintings
Today our adventures took us back to art street in search of a certain painting I have been looking for. We didn’t find it, but we did find these:
(This one, above, reminded us of The King of Masks!)
We took the bus into town rather than a taxi, and though it was a great adventure, I think we’ll take taxi’s more often. The ride took about 30 minutes there, and an hour back. It was near quiting time when we headed home and so the bus was FULL. When I thought it was too full to pick up any more people, they stopped and added 5 or so more, over and over again! The girls thought it was hilarious and tried to get me to take photos, and so I took photos of them. I don’t know if they do the “crowd” justice.
The first thing on our list was a pair of shoes for Star to wear to church. She has grown out of her pair since we left (typical!) and so we needed to find something. She found a darling pair at the first place we stopped. They are cream colored with pink flowers. I hope they last through the summer!
Then we went in search of my oil painting. I did not find it, but managed to spend Y1500 (about $73/each) on three others. They will look amazing in my house!! Da wants me to find two more that I love so that each girl can take one home when they get married and we can have one. I wonder if we have enough wall space??
We also spend a lot of time looking a Chinese furniture and jewelry boxes. Jewelry boxes are one of the items on our list because mom has one from her first trip to China and the girls love it. We were originally looking for the black laqure type, but came across some beautifully carved wood ones that we are going to keep an eye on. They are kind of pricey, so if they were purchased, the girls wouldn’t be able to use them until they were married. They would be a fantastic wedding gift! I didn’t take photos, but will if I buy them!
We’re home now and headed up to see more babies! More later!
