Continuous Partial Attention

In this world we have so many distractions.  We have our homes to care for, news, politics, church callings, friends, t.v., our own education and sometimes work.   Today a friend introduced me to a new phrase by posting on her facebook (Yet, another distraction!) about it.   Her post really socked me in the gut and I felt that someone was telling me something important!

I only have a limited time with my girls.  Before I know it they will be grown and moving out.  The years are flying by and even though I spend my entire day with them, I have only been giving them “continuous partial attention.”  I am guilty, and I admit it.

This year I am making a concerted effort toward giving them more purposeful conscious continuous full attention!

Oh yes! Thankyou for reminding me!

I love this resolution. Attention is the minimum we should give our children.

Good thought! I’ll have to start paying full attention to my brood. Come the fall all but one could be gone to college!

This is something I try to work on on a continual basis. It is so hard to avoid the constant distractions. Thanks for the reminder.

I found myself there, too, and left Facebook a few days ago. I’m shocked by how much time I spent there and I didn’t even realize it.

Right on, Anne! I’ve been purposely limiting my FB and internet time to nights after the girls are asleep – it’s been so much better for all of us! Before we know it they’ll be grown and gone…and today will be lost. Making memories now!
