At the moment, Mouse’s favorite book is Linnea in Monet’s Garden. We read the book to her nearly every night (it came with us to San Francisco) and she knows it by heart! So today, when we ended up at The Legion of Honor and discovered that they have several Monet’s in gallery 19, we made it our first stop. Mouse was in heaven and could not stop grinning! One of the first things I plan on doing when we get home is printing out these photos and attaching them to our copy of Linnea in Monet’s Garden. It will be a fantastic memory for Mouse and the rest of the family!
Mouse studied every painting up close and then backed up to get the full effect. This is one of the things that they discuss in the book and that she wanted to prove over and over again during our visit today. There were other impressionist paintings in the gallery and she was very interested in the colors used in the faces and water that you could not see from far way. I was surprised at how in depth she studied everything around her!
Mouse loved how the boat masts were “wiggly” in the water.

Oh Anne, this is so special! I’m so glad she got to experience this.
Your Mouse is cute as the dickens, and the photos inspired me to study the impressionists. I’ve been reading about the pre-raphaelites of late. I think exposing children to great art at an early age is a wonderful thing. Too late for my children who aren’t into it (two out of four), but I’m looking forward to sharing things like this with my grandchildren some day. Good job! Got to your blog from Angela’s blog (my blog is at myfantasticlife.wordpress.com).
